first Tuesday of every month from 6-7PM in PSC 1150
and enjoy a monthly coffee break together in the middle of the month.
AGN is a group sponsored by the University of Maryland Department of Astronomy. Our goals include facilitating community between the undergraduates and graduate students studying astronomy. We discuss the challenges women in science face as well as give graduate students a chance to share their experiences through this mentoring opportunity. We welcome undergraduates, graduate students, and post doctoral researchers!
Who are we?
The group has a tiered leadership with mentoring
opportunities right from the start. A senior graduate
student guides a junior graduate student, who holds the
role of President. The President and an undergraduate
representative plan the monthly meetings and facilitate
open discussion with assistance from additional members.
AGN is currently led by Sara Frederick.
What do we do?
